Ernie Garcia concert, successful!

Puno ang venue ng mga guests who were mostly Ernie’s friends from way, way back, avid followers of his concerts and common friends of Ernie and concert producer Rey Carpio (Grand Monaco Estate Developers, Inc. president). Sighted immensely enjoying the show were actress-turned TV host (“Up Close and Personal with Marissa del Mar” on Channel 13 every Wednesday evening) Ms. Marissa del Mar, CREBA officer Ms. Rose Basa, singer-businessman Bobby Valle, WCOPA singing champ Kean Andessa, Atty. Nestor Belardo (the cultural attache of Syria).
Ernie started his show with a Queen number aptly titled “Crazy Thing Called Love” which he performed with pelvic twists and kicks. Then he went on to interpret two love songs: the first one in Japanese (the original of Renz Verano’s “Remember Me”) and the second one in Chinese.
Ernie’s own take of Santana’s “Smooth” was spiced with dancing with two of his closest pals, Ms. del Mar and Ms. Basa.
Pasok naman si Mark Anthony Carpio who did the upbeat “Sunday Morning” na sinundan naman ng falsetto Southborder song na “Love Of My Life”.
Pasok uli si Ernie with a Japanese love song. Then, bumanat siya ng “Unchained Melody” at pina-jam sina Bobby Valle at Kean Andessa. Galing! Isang makabagbag-damdamin uling “All By Myself” na sinundan ng “Volare”.
Sinundan ito ng “You Made Me So Very Happy”. Senti time uli sa theme song from the Broadway musical “Chorus Line”, ang “What I Did For Love”.
The dance instructors (DI) took over the dance area with their partners. Minsan pang pinatunayan ni Ernie that he still has what it takes to become a magnetic personality!
It was a splendid performance by someone who is more known as an actor and not as a singer. We asked Ernie where he got the energy that night. It could be because of Buddhist chanting!”
Of course, part of the artistic credit should go to the director Josel Reyes and musical director Bong Nanafranca, leader of the accompanying band, Without Warning. Congratulations to all involved in the production!
Guerrero Theater, 2/F, Palma Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
Ang “Amphitryon” ay isang kakaibang love triangle. Perfect for the month of hearts!
