Nohmer is winner of the 2007 National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA).  With his beautiful tone, liquidity of phrasing and most of all, his inept musicality, Nohmer has performed in most of the major productions produced by the UST Conservatory of Music including the zarzuelas “Bukas May Liwanag” by Dr. Rose Ruertollano,  “Something to Crow About” by National Artist for Literature Dr. Alejandro Roces,  Peter Illych Tchaikovsky’s opera “Eugene Onegin” and Johann Strauss’ “ Die Fledermaus”.

Nohmer continues to hone his artistry through attending workshops and masterclasses held in the country including those given by American voice pedadogue Dr. Marcin Keenza, Austrian-based Filipino tenor Abdul Candao, Italian tenor Gian Luca Pasolini, and the sensational Filipino tenor, Arthur Espiritu.

Nohmer is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance under the tutelage of renowned tenor Randy Gilongo at the UST Conservatory of Music.   A former member of the UST Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble, he regularly performs at Paco Park and at the Concert at the Park.

Enjoy na enjoy ang lahat sa palabas ng Follies de Mwah consisting of the following production numbers:  an excerpt from “Showgirl”, “Real Woman Tonight”, “I Feel Pretty” (from “West Side Story”), isang dance remix featuring red fairies with wings, “Move, Move, Move” nina Beyonce Knowles at Jennifer Hudson (from “Dreamgirls”), isang thematic fashion show ng mga models na nakasuot ng identical gold gowns, blonde wigs and golden accessories (“Putting on the Ritz”), “Mama Morton” (excerpt from “Chicago”), “Murder on Motown District”, “Motorcycle Patrol”, “Look At Me” (impersonation of Jennifer Hudson from “Chicago”), “How Much is the Doggie”;

The Cultural Center of the Philippines is going digital!

Imagine the nation’s treasures and audio-visual collection of Philippine arts and culture digitized and preserved for the benefit of future generations!

On Wednesday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m., at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) we will take part in the unfolding of history as EMC, the leading information infrastructure solutions provider and the CCP embark on a new milestone of digital technology.

Digital Heritage powered by EMC!

The retro film showing of Mario O’Hara’s almost forgotten gem of a film “Bagong Hari” on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 2pm at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde of the Cultural Center of the Philippines will surely be a reunion of sort of award-winning actors and film production people associated with the veteran filmmaker-scriptwriter-actor.

“Bagong Hari” is the launching vehicle into solo action stardom of then SOS stuntman Dan Alvaro (my first ward and talent).  With him in the cast are Robert Arevalo, Joel Torre, Elvira Manahan, Ruel Vernal, Celso Ad Castillo, Carmi Martin, Toby Alejar, Glaiza Herradura and other supporting actors.

The script of “Bagong Hari” was written by Frank Rivera.  The musical scorer Tony Aguilar garnered an URIAN award for this film.

See you there!

Liezl, Gladys, Leah and Cathy: New MTRCB members!

Gladys Reyes

Gladys Reyes

May apat na mga bagong members ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) na matatawag na “laking showbiz”.  They are Liezl S. Martinez, Gladys Reyes, Leah Navarro and Cathy Babao-Guballa.

Liezl doesn’t need a detailed introduction to our readers na 40 years of age or older.  Batang showbiz siya talaga being the only daughter of movie queen Amalia Fuentes and estranged actor-husband Romeo Vasquez (surnamed Sumilang in real life, thus the “S” as Liezl’s middle initial) and being the wife of actor-filmmaker Albert Martinez.  She was also a child actress and this fact all the more makes her a showbiz insider.

May foundation siya which takes care of cancer-stricken kids na pinangalanan niyang Migui’s Corner in memory of her own son who died of a rare case of cancer at a very young age.

Lourdes Bautista, Jaime Alan Bengzon, Manuel A. Buising, Patrocinia Datu Binungcal, Gabriela Roldan-Concepcion, Maria Ines A. Dayrit, Catherine Babao-Guballa, Carmencita Guerrero, Liezl S. Martinez, Maria Carmen Syquia-Musngi, Leah Lopez-Navarro, Cecil Lanuza-Nubla, Jay C. Revister, Jose E. Romero IV, Milo M. Sogueco, Gladys Reyes-Sommereux, Benedicto H. Tarnate, Sr., Jose Antonio Veloso, Eugenio H. Villareal, Alfred A. Yuson, Nicasio Cruz, Noel R. del Prado, Mario A. Hernando, Marra Pl. Lanot, Eric Henry Joseph F. Mallonga, Teresita Villarama, Teresita Daza, and Francis Conrado.

All happening in one day!

Nasa cast ng “RINDIDO” sina Chanel Latorre, Banjo Romero, Vic Tiro at Noriel Jarito na siya ring writer, direktor, cinematographer, film editor, clapper at prodyuser.

Willie, nagkasakit dahil sa galit!

Willie Revillame

Willie Revillame

So, magsasama rin pala sina Toni Gonzaga at Mariel Rodriguez sa noontime show ng ABS-CBN very soon.

Pak!  Hahahahaha!

Speaking of Rico J. Puno, long, long before Australian teen pop artist Justin Bieber came into the music scene to give us an overdose of “baby, baby, baby, oww!”,  ay nauna ng tatlong dekada si Rico Baby sa kanyang mga immortal songs addressing his love as “baby, baby, baby, yeah!”.

He is the most popular (or “notorious” for his green jokes na kinakagat naman ng mga tagahanga niya, hehehe!) at pinaka-in demand as a solo artist.  No offense meant sa apat pang kasamhan niya.

Aljur, disappointing as “Machete”!

Aljur Abrenica

Aljur Abrenica

Walang kabuhay-buhay, halos expressionless and wooden ang mukha niya.

Aljur is a major letdown, especially because his predecessors (Cesar Montano and Gardo Versoza) were the epitome of masculinity and quality acting combined.

Paging Wilma Galvante!

Attention-grabber nga ang entrance niya sa party with character actor Richard Duran in tow.
