The film #MadalingArawMahabangGabi is my cinematic interpretation of everybody’s pursuit for the right level of faith and the desire to experience all kinds of love.
The journey of a hopeless romantic and a family man (Rocco Nacino & Boboy Garovillo), an illiterate and two adventurers who are lost in an unfamiliar culture and language and how they can change the world of a simple man (Bojong Fernandez, Tutti Caringal, Eric Tai & Lou Veloso), a risk-taker, an attention-seeker, and someone with a jaded perspective on life and love (Kean Cipriano, Edgar Allan Guzman & Cherie Gil), someone who seeks to belong and someone who will indulge in a little fantasy to get a little vengeance (Jerald Napoles and Boobay), those who will reconsider their sexual preference and compromise their faith to get the most out of life (Dominic Roco & Karel Marquez) as told from the perspective of those who believe that love can develop overnight (Callum David & Glaiza De Castro), the ones who question the dignity of life (Alchris Galura) and those who are willing to lose their poise to have it all (Angelica Panganiban).
Nicolas Pichay (Co-Writer, Palanca Awards Hall-Of-Famer) and Lawrence Fajardo (Editor, Cinemalaya and Urian Awardee / Amok & Posas) helped me tell these stories and how destinies can change through a long night of a pagan tradition in a 98-minute film.
It opens in Philippine theaters and available on The Filipino Channel (TFC) Pay-Per-View all over the world on November 7, 2012.

Lou Veloso: NCCA "Ani Ng Dangal" awardee!

Lou Veloso: NCCA "Ani Ng Dangal" awardee!

“When it rains, it pours!”, sambit ni Direk Naning Estrella, Chief of Staff ni Manila City 6th District Councilor Lou Veloso.

Just recently ay nakatanggap naman ng official letter of notification si Lou from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) na isa siya sa mga Filipino artist international  achievers na gagawaran ng “Ani ng Dangal Awards” next month in conjunction with the celebration of the Philippine International Arts Festival (PIAF) which has for its theme “Ani Ng Sining”.

Sa Malacanang gaganapin ang awarding.  Hindi pa definite ang date, bagama’t within February 25 to 28, 2010 ito naka-schedule.

Bago ang awarding ay magkakaroon ng “Ani ng Dangal” exhibit at the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros starting February 4 wherein the works and achievements (trophies, medals, citations, pictures, videos, etc.) of all the awardees will be on display.

Ayon sa project coordinator na si Ms. Joanna Beo, PIAF is a month-long and nationwide activity that aims to promote Philippine culture and the arts, highlighting the empowerment of the Filipino creativity and imagination.  It also coincides with the National Arts Month activities.

Binuksan niya ito last December 18.

May dinidirek siyang pelikula ngayon  starring Leandro Baldemor.

All throughout Tuesday night, December 28, they were a picture of a happy family with Bimby stealing the limelight from his celebrity parents!  Gabi niya naman kasi ‘yon being an awardee samantalang mga “dakilang alalay” niya lang sina James at Kris.

Maituturing na “star of the night” talaga si Bimby, outshining two other child awardees, Zaijan Jaranilla (for “May Bukas Pa” and “Noah”) and Jillian Ward (for “Trudis Liit”). Naging crowded nga sa area nila, sa right side of the audience!

A typical precocious three-year old kid si Bimby. Malikot, shifting places and making faces kaya’t naging paborito siya ng camera!  Nang tawagin na siya as an awardee, kumawala siya from the clutches of his dad at patakbong umakyat ng entablado, tinanggap ang trophy and mumbled his acceptance speech which elicited laughter from the audience at parang napahiyang bumaba ng stage!  Come to his rescue naman si Kris na umakyat na rin sa stage and said “hindi ka nila pinagtawanan, they’re clapping for you!”.  Nagpasalamat si Kris sa National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) at sa Department of Education (DepEd) who are behind Lingkod TV.

Umakyat na rin si James at nagpasalamat for his son’s award.

Nang dumating si Mrs. Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, dating Executive Director ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at awardee rin for her TV program “Sining Gising”, ipinakilala ito ni Kris kay Bimby.  “She’s a good friend of your lola (Ex-Pres. Cory Aquino)!”.  Sagot ni Bimby:  “But Lola is dead!”.

Wala rin ang iba pang awardees like Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales, Jodi Sta. Maria- Lacson, Bantay Bata, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Anak TV, at iba pang child-friendly TV personalities and TV shows.

But KC Concepcion and Gladys Reyes were there to personally accept their awards.

Ang ganda-ganda ni KC!  From a distance, para siyang foreigner sa kaputian. Naalala niya raw ang nabasa niya sa isang libro na “Don’t let people look down on you because you’re young!”.

Mabuhay kayong lahat!
